THE BEAST FROM UKRAINE
Born on June 5, 1997, in Letkivka village, Vinnytsia Oblast, Ukraine, Oleh Plotnytskyi has risen to become one of the most formidable outside hitters in world volleyball. Standing at 1.95m (6 ft 5 in) with a 345cm spike reach, his explosive power and devastating left-handed serve have earned him the nickname "The Beast."
From 2018 to 2025, Plotnytskyi served as captain of the Ukraine national team, leading his country to a historic 7th place at the 2022 World Championship and winning the 2024 CEV European Golden League. In March 2025, he announced his retirement from the national team after 8 years of dedicated service.
Currently a cornerstone of the Italian giant Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia, Oleh's trophy cabinet includes 2x Club World Championships, 5x Supercoppa Italiana, 2x Coppa Italia, and the 2023 Club World Championship MVP award. Named Best Server at the 2022 World Championship.
THE PLOTNYTSKYI FAMILY
Behind every great champion is a loving family. Meet the people who inspire Oleh to greatness every day.
A Volleyball Dynasty
Volleyball runs in the Plotnytskyi blood. Both of Oleh's parents β Yurii and Oksana β were passionate volleyball players. Growing up in Letkivka, there was never a question about what sport young Oleh would pursue.
"My mom and dad played volleyball, so I did not have a choice," Oleh once reflected with a smile. At just six years old, he began training under his father's guidance at a local sports school in Khmelnytskyi, learning the fundamentals that would one day make him a world champion.
This volleyball heritage instilled in Oleh not just technical skills, but the discipline, work ethic, and competitive fire that defines his play. The family legacy continues as he now passes these values to his own children.

A PASSION FOR FISHING
Long before the roar of stadium crowds, young Oleh found peace in the quiet waters of Ukraine. Fishing has been his lifelong passion, a tradition passed down through generations in his family from Letkivka village, Vinnytsia Oblast.
Growing up in the Ukrainian countryside, Oleh spent countless hours by rivers and lakes, learning patience and focus β skills that would later define his game on the volleyball court. The tranquility of fishing provided a perfect counterbalance to the intensity of competitive sports.
Even today, between grueling training sessions and championship matches, Oleh returns to the water whenever possible. It's his way of reconnecting with his roots, finding calm amid the storm of professional athletics, and honoring the simple joys of his Ukrainian heritage.
